SOLVED. Help re-installing windows 7 from recovery parition

Solved!

Hi
First off before you read. Just before this happened I was updating drivers through slimdrivers.

Well been having few performance issues with my laptop and I decided to use msconfig to give a quicker boot up and performance speed. I done what I have done before where I set it to clean boot etc. But in the selective menu on there. Original boot config was unticked bit I carried on not worrying. (Think thats where I went wrong...)

It restarts then say loading windows files. Then come up with small amount of text saying "safe mode with minimal services"

Then when I rebooted it come up in safe mode and then started getting stuck on please wait during the start up. So... I decided then just to use the recovery partition on hard drive.

So after that. It still starts up in safe mode. After its done all the stuff in cmd at start up. It goes to setup is starting services then come up with error that cannot install on safe mode... So I reboot again and still says the same thing and there is no way I can get safe mode off. Even if I use start windows normally it still boots in safe mode...

I read some thing about editing sometgig in boot.ini but sont want to **** it up more...

This comp is very important as got a lot of work on here :/

Computer Specs:
Asus X401A
As X401A - 1AWX/USB3.0
Intel Celeron B820 dual core processor 1.7ghz
HDD 320GB 5400R SATA
4gb ddr3 1333 of ram
No optical drive...

Need more info please just ask.

You should have your files backed up at all times externally. Anything less is reckless. If you dont have an external drive you can look over these steps to Sync, Backup and Store your Files to the Cloud with Skydrive - Windows 7 Forums.

If you are still running the corrupt Asus factory preinstall then I would shed the bloatware by running a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. Everything needed is in the blue link.

It shows in the tutorial how to decide which partitions to keep (probably none if you make your Recovery Disks first), how to maintain a Clean Boot, and how drivers are handled in Win7 which is not like XP at all.

I had a back up I was going to transfer in the morning which is now stuck om the computer. I cant even get passed setup starting services so there is no way I can even get onto my desktop. But if I do a clean re-install. with no back up I wont have any drivers.

Would there be any way to take of safe boot using cmd?

Should I speak to asus? I am still in warranty

Why don't you read the tutorial I linked for you before asking back questions which are answered by it. I even stated clearly that drivers are handled differently in Win7 so you should read the tutorial. Are you able to do this?

Have you tried rebooting into Factory Recovery partition to run it again? ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Troubleshooting X401A

If it won't run Recovery then you can try booting the disks you should have made, or order the disks from Asus. Or you can get the superior Clean Reinstall using the tutorial I linked you to get a perfect reinstall.

You can rescue your files with a rescue disk provided in step 6 of Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 .

Let me repeat since you apparently missed it: Drivers are handled completely differently in Win7 than in XP, so read the tutorial carefully to understand the difference. Win7 is driver-complete in the installer and quickly updated once you connect to the internet and install all rounds of Important and Optional Updates after enabling Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3).

So put your network LAN driver in your backup so you can get online quickly if it isn't provided during install.

Well I think I have done it. But dont hold me to it

When it starts recovering and gets to setup is starting services and comes up with can not install when in safe mode I opened ccommand line and open msconfig.exe and disable safe mode, un ticked original boot config and checked normal start up and is now its doibg factory installation.

I suspect when I unticked it before I got these issues that windows saved safe mode boot up as its default start up so it was nornal to. boot to windows?

I will inform if it works and continues to

Yeah I will do that now. I will do that soon. Just one more thing. When I back up. As it bloatware, should I just back up only the essentials?

Thank you for your help!
