Help should i re-format

Hi all ive just installed new motherboard and processor

my last motherboard was an asus system with intel 2.7 core duo but the motherboard died on me
i now have installed i biostar motherboard with an AMD 3.2 tripple core and 4 gig of ddr3 ram

the question im asking is should i re-format its just that everything looks fine no conflicts in device manager,,,,, it all looks ok,

but everyone i ask say i should format but i dont realy want to do that if poss

my os is 7 ultimate if that helps

Check whether windows is activated. I think the generic windows drivers would have installed most device drivers, but you should update drivers really to get the latest ones- check at the mobo manufacturer's and device manufaturers' sites.

Why should you format if everything is allright?!

Do they explain you why you should do that?

If you are confident everything is working fine, performing as expected, and you've cleaned up all the remnants of the old system, you should be okay. If it was me, I would have done a reformat considering you changed chipsets.

A reformat takes about 2 hours, so it isn't something to be afraid of, for future reference. You just need to keep your apps and drivers handy.

plus 2 days to deal with all the backlevel updates. I just went thru that last weekend for a friend.

I would say: If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Still using a dial-up modem?

I just did two laptops this weekend, and they took 2 hours each. I had their drivers downloaded to a flash drive, and I did the Windows 7 install from a USB flash drive, loaded the drivers, then ran Windows Updates. I finished by installing Office, MSE, and several other apps they needed, and that was it. All in less than 2 hours each.

You sure beat me. I had to install about 260 updates plus SP1. And a dozen programs. Also did a cleanup of all the crap that came from his Acer recovery partition. Plus a few images.

No idea how I could have done that in 2 hours. Took me about 12 hours - and I was really busy, LOL.

PS: I do have a DSL 6000 - but even then bundles of updates up to 460MB take time. And the lappy was only a 2.2GHz duo core with a 5400RPM HDD.
