HELP! - SO MANY Windows 7 problems!!!

When I see that Norton doesn't get blown out by some new virus as easily as it does now. I'll become a believer.

PROBLEM SOLVED!!! (for now) --- Webroot Internet Security Beta was the problem. Now i can easily get into control panel, my computer, and explorer works great! i haven't checked word yet, but webroot probably was the culprit there too. Everything's working so far . . .

Thanks Rich. To be honest,, I didn't expect uninstalling Webroot would have resolved all those problems.
Glad it did though.

Still have to do some checking out of the system overall.
Just remember,, if you do experience other issues,, they may be a result of these problems and at that time,
I would backup, nuke and reload. Just to be sure you are starting from scratch,.,, makes tracking down any new problems much easier,, you don't have to wonder if the old problems are the cause of new ones, etc.

Especially with all the problems you were experiencing at the start of this thread.
That is not to say that all the problems were not resolved with uninstalling webroot,, cause they might be. But honestly,, with computers,,, you can never really know till you nuke and reload. (i really did not mean for that to rhyme, I am really sorry about that,, but I'm not changing it either)

now, before i uninstall norton too, i want to know which A/V is the best out there (I don't care if its free or if i have to pay). I've heard good things about MSE, Kaspersky Internet Security 2010, Norton Internet Security 2010, Avast, and Avira.

I'm leaning to either Microsoft Security Essentials or Kaspersky Internet Security 2010. . . any input would be great

I've read of issues with Kaspersky here at the Forums. Go with Microsoft Security Essentials, although I have not tested it extensively on ah dubious websites.

@Windows7Fix
We did some major testing of Norton Internet Security 2010 and it works well, however we have some major things we don't like about it. It has NO fine control. Things like setting updates at a specific time like 2:31 am only. It did catch all but one of our test viruses. The other thing we hate about it is that it is extremely easy to disable like most anti-virus software.

MSE is good and I hope that Microsoft will start giving it many more options to control it. Currently it is very basic but does seem to catch everything.
