My Dell 1018 Netbook was hit with the Win7 Virus, I have NO idea how to remove this thing without internet connectivity, and it wont connect at all. I have tried everything that every tech has told me. I just keep getting told that I need to take it in to a shop. I dont have the money to do that!

I found a site with a guide to removing it, and it would be very helpful, but I think in order to use the malware software I have to have an internet connection.

PLEASE HELP!!!

Have you tried starting in safe mode with networking?

Not to mention I had a manuscript on it.. if I dont get that thing fixed without loosing (if possible) any data I'll have to start all over again.

Hello leann and welcome to Seven Forums. Sorry to hear you're having these issues.

If you can access the internet through safe mode with networking, you might be able to install the free version of Malwarebytes. It has a good reputation for finding and removing the bad stuff. If you click on "Products" you'll see the official link for the free version.

Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware, anti-virus and spyware removal download

Microsoft also has a free product called Windows Defender Offline (formerly called Microsoft Standalone System Sweeper.) If you have access to another computer (and if your netbook meets the minimum system requirements as contained in the "Note" box) you can create a bootable CD, flash drive, etc to scan your infected machine.

A very strong caution about registry cleaners. They can seriously damage a computer. Sometimes worse than malware. So use any registry cleaner with extreme care.
