Help!! win & install error, "the computer restarted unexpectedly or.."

I was installing Win 7 Ultimate 32 bit onto my PC, and it went great at first, but when it came to "starting services", it popped up a box and said "the computer restared unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error..." so I pressed "OK" then, the computer restarted and resumed to "starting services" and wants me to click ok for restarting.... i have no idea,, please help:cry:

i can do nothing, cuz when the PC starts it shows only the DELL thing and straight into the installation....

If you complete your System details we might be able to help. Your Spec shows your present operating system as "Dell" This as you will know is a PC manufacturer not an Operating system. What OS have you now and how are you trying to install Windows 7, from a retail disc a download or what means. please give as much detail as possible. Have you checked to see if you PC is man enough for Windows 7? Go here to check;

Try cleaning the HD using DISKPART from Install DVD>Repair My Computer>Command line: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/52129-disk-clean-clean-all-diskpart-command.html Then create New partitions and format during Install process.

From the DVD command line, also run "chkdsk /r /f" to check the HD file system

What is your HD SATA controller setting? Try AHCI, then IDE if neccessary.

Try resetting the CMOS: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS Check to be sure you have latest BIOS version.

Try removing all but 2gb of RAM, test your RAM.

Test your HD with maker's full diag/repair CD scan: Hard Drive Diagnostics Tools and Utilities (Storage) - TACKtech Corp.

1) On the same error screen press SHIFT+F10 and it will open up a black Window. (a command prompt window)
2) In the black windows type the word "regedit"(without the inverted commas and hit enter. That will open the registry editor.
In the Registry Editor..
Browse to....
HKLocal machine/SYSTEM/SETUP/STATUS/ChildCompletion, and after highliting childcompletion,on the right hand side check for setup.exe. if the value is 1 change it to 3.(by double clicking on setup.exe and changing the value shown in the box).
Then close the registry editor and then also close the black window.
Then click on OK for the error and the computer will restart and the installation may complete. just try it and let me know if it worked.

I realize this is an old post but it has just occurred on a computer I purchased. Set the setup.exe to 3 etc. The computer then installed Windows 7 just fine but when it restarted it went into a reboot cycle after the restart and would not finish loading windows 7. Is there another setting to make in the registry or BIOS to allow this thing to continue to load Windows and not enter the reboot cycle. Installed Windows 7 on 3 HDD's and had the same problem all three times. This seems to be a common problem after searching the internet for a solution to this problem. I sent the computer back but the problem is still giving me nightmares.

It would help if you'd tell us if you used DVD or Flash stick installer, and what is meant by setting the .exe to 3, etc? Hello?

Set the hard drive first to boot in BIOS setup, then trigger the installer using One-time BIOS Boot Menu key. At reboots obviously do not start the install over again, and if it interferes unplug the installer.

If these don't work start a new thread and explain your problem so that we can understand it.

Amazingly the problem got solved !!!
What i did is,
1.Resetted BIOS settings.
2.Formatted the Installation partition using diskpart.
3.Set USB as first priority in boot order (Earlier i manually selected USB from the boot menu to install).

Dont know what the problem is, but it got solved...... Guess patience has rewarded me.....
