Hello 7Forums,
Basically this is what happened.

I bought this computer with Windows installed on it, it was all working fine till I got a "virus"
I uninstalled some stuff and it said restart your computer, so I restarted and a black screen came up and it said missing operating system.
So because I didn't have a recovery disc at the time I had to install a new operating system(it was so sh*t!) I couldn't use it at all.

So I got a recovery disc, uninstalled Ubuntu and re installed Windows! It all loaded up fine and I could see the desktop but the internet wasn't working for some reason? I went on the Toshiba website and downloaded the internet driver or WLAN driver? And it said it installed correctly on the program but it says different in device management.

At the moment I'm on Ubuntu but I need Windows for publisher, excel, word and more other programs!

Please help me?:(

What devices are listed in the Device Manager under Network drivers?

You need the full model extension e.g. Satellite L450D-144 then try all of the LAN ethernet and wireless drivers provided on the Toshiba Downloads webpage for your model until one installs and makes your network visible in the bottom right System Tray. Toshiba Support - Homepage

All I know is that it is a Toshiba Satellite Pro L450D, I downloaded the driver for it and it didn't work.
I contacted Microsoft and they said to contact my manufacturer but I can't contact them.

Are you interested in learning how to do this, or do you expect us to do it for you?

Look on the model sticker on bottom of laptop for the exact model number including extension.

Type Device manager in Start button Search box.

Expand the section for Network Adapters, what devices are detected there? Click on each entry to confirm the drivers are not installed.

It's a Toshiba Satellite Pro L450D 12x, it's the network thing that isn't working.

I have just downloaded the LAN driver, will install Windows and try it.

Here is the LAN driver for 64 bit and 32 bit .

I would install 32 bit if you have less than 4gb RAM, or upgrade RAM.

After getting online immediately do all of your Important and Optional Windows Updates after enabling Automatically get recommended drivers and updates for your hardware.

Any drivers then missing in Device Manager can be found here.

Follow the other steps here to get a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

I'm on a new computer, the driver I downloaded for my laptop off the toshiba site is still not working.

I removed the other downloads page when I found the cached/discontinued Toshiba Downloads page for your model here: Laptop Driver Downloads

The LAN driver choices are on the second page. You'll need to rightclick>extract the zipped file, then rightclick the .exe to Run as Admin on the Toshiba.

If the driver for your model doesn't install then post back the information I requested for what is listed under Network Adapters in Device Manager. If there is not a model named, then trace the actual hardware device using this tool: Hardware Identification

Done, topic closed.
