Its a new Win7 system, have not installed very many apps, have run into some crashes with IE, especially the 64 bit version, the only other apps I can remember running often when these happen is Skype and Azureus.

I have attached my minidumps, from the WhoCrashed app, it seems that 3 of the 4 have been caused by the ntoskrnl.exe

here is the output from BlueScreen program which lists in more detail what was going on, I am a bit nervous about the mcupdate_Genuineintel.dll being up there, is that broken?

All I have done "rogue" is install an English language LIP to switch from Swedish to English, but everything in system is kosher.

It looks like bad RAM could be causing your problem, but I also recommend trying to find an updated driver for your network card.

Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using ImgBurn. Boot from the CD, and run at least 5 passes.

To update your network card drivers, right-click on it in Device Manager, and select Update Driver Software.

Windows did its own memory test restart and that was OK but I will try the memtest disk as well and report back

Thanks for the network card info, did not find an update through windows, but in control panel, think it is listed as

Broadcom Netlink Gigabit Ethernet
Broadcom driver
2009-08-06 date
driver version 12.2.2.2
signed as WHCP

OK, I also have no idea how to decipher Broadcoms page for drivers since I have no idea what chipset they are talking about or where to find that out.
If anyone knows which driver I need, that would be really helpful!
cheers

What is the model number of your Dell Vostro? You should be able to find the correct driver directly from Dell's website.

Well when I chose the Windows 7 updates and downloaded the driver and application, something seemed to install but when I ran the diagnostic broadcom app it seems that the driver v12.2.2.2 is still there and current. I checked the extracted file from the exe and think that must be the latest, it is the vista ones that seem to be on version 14 etc

I did update the BIOS, and a few other drivers from that site, we shall see if it helps

Ran 6+ passes of Memtest without any errors or problems overnight, it took a tad over 6 hours.

thx for the help

Well another crash. Blimey, I had Vista for almost 3 years and never had a single BSOD. What the flip...

this one happened as I closed IEx64 with about 6 tabs opened, straight to BSOD

The memtest I ran following previous advice was all clear.

Please help!

Both of these were caused by memory corruption.

Download memtestx86 and run for at least 5 passes.

also if you are overclocking stop
If you have a raid update its driver

Let us know if you need help

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (a)
An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an
interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high. This is usually
caused by drivers using improper addresses.
If a kernel debugger is available get the stack backtrace.
Arguments:
Arg1: fffffa7fffffffe0, memory referenced
Arg2: 0000000000000002, IRQL
Arg3: 0000000000000001, bitfield :
    bit 0 : value 0 = read operation, 1 = write operation
bit 3 : value 0 = not an execute operation, 1 = execute operation (only on chips which support this level of status)
Arg4: fffff80002cfe35f, address which referenced memory

Hi
Yes, I need help! I ran memtest the first time i posted here, and it ran 6 successful passes in about 6 hours.
This is a brand new system bought online via dustinhome.se, I am not overclocking or anything like that, but I do use some external hard drives, usually only one is powered up though.
thx
Lee

Have you run a system file check?

type cmd in search>right click and run as admin>sfc /scannow (note the space between sfc and "/")

Let us know if you need help

Thanks Ken, I will run that right away.
Ah yes, it found something

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Here is the CBS log.
FYI when I saw "resource" I cringed. I did apply some kind of LIP file to get English windows, since it was Swedish and my swedish is not yet good enough to learn a new OS!!!! I used a program called Vistalisator I think, and a LIP downloaded from a reputable sounding page from a link here on these forums I believe,.

I did the scannow, it found some of those tcpmon.ini errors it could not fix, but doing it with the install disk in the drive, and using those flags with scannow to tell it where the winbootdir etc were, it did not seem to access or fix the files from the disk. Anyway, I did the reset of the tcp stack and thought I had cracked it, no crashes for about 2 days but then it came back one day browsing and its still happening.

I am thinking about trying to reseat or move the memory, I think I have 4 GB in 2 x 2GB I hope, but do they have to be in specific slots, think my motherboard has 4, but they are alternately coloured black and blue.

Put the RAM in the same colored slots. I suspect that's the cause of your errors.
