Help with install HP EliteBook 840 G2 along with M.2 Toshiba RC100

Hello,
The problem is, that WIN7 (64bit) doesn`t recognize M2 Toshiba RC100 120GB as a hdd device. When I`m trying to install a new OS on the Toshiba (brand new) I`ve stuck on this step. I`m trying a lot of nvme drivers OCZ, Intel and so on. Read a tons of articles in internet - still the same - no HDD. Can someone, please, help with nvme drivers for win7 64bit? Or share the solution. I have also another SATA HDD in the notebook, and when I boot my Linux Mint OS, the Toshiba is there !!! I`ve format it and may use it with the Linux (i.e. meaning that the notebook support it).

Have you looked at this => Update your Win 7 installation media.?

I`ve downloaded this file 7UPv40.
I`ve copy all consisted files and folders on the USB bootable flash. When WiN7 prompts me to Browse drivers - I choose the directory of the USB, but it said that "No sighned device driver was found..."
Am I did it in the right way? Or did something wrong?
edit: I did try to install WIN10. It seems to see the m2ssd but said "cannot install OS on it". I will replace this Toshiba NVME with Transcend with SATA3.

Win 7 installation disk doesn't have some drivers for new hardware. You must add USB 3.x, SATA and MVMe drivers to it.
That is what 7UPv40 does. You give the app the Win 7 installation files and the needed drivers and it will add them to the Win 7 installation files.

I am sorry, but I cannot install any Windows on it, so I cannot install and start the .exe from your link. Anyway, I`ll send the RC100 back to the seller, and will take Transcend m2 with sata-interface. Hope it works for me. I`ll keep you in touch.

You might just need the two MS nvme updates installed into your win7 install.wim file. If you want to install in the normal way using windows setup - The MS nvme updates need to be installed into boot.wim image 2 as well.

I did try to install WIN10. It seems to see the m2ssd but said "cannot install OS on it"

Did you boot the win10 installation media in efi mode?
You will need to be in uefi mode to install to nvme disk. As far as I know it was only the Samsung 850 Pro had the oprom that would allow installing in a variety of fashions . More recent nvme disks don't have that, to my knowledge.

I have already give back the Toshiba Rc100 to the seller. My next choice is Transcend MTS420S - TS240GMTS420S. Hope to have more luck with it.
About the NVME updates - I should check how can I implement it in Windows boot usb-flash.
About the UEFI - yes, both WIN7 and WIN10 is under UEFI. I also did change AHCI to RAID - again NO success with install. I will keep you in touch, prefer to install WIN7 than WIN10 on this notebook.

I think you did not understand what we wrote.
Win 7 doesn't have the drivers to install on a MVMe drive (regardless of the brand).

Clearly understand what we are talking about. Win7 is a way older than nvme standart. Thats why it needs some drivers included to view and install on the nvme based ssd m2 module.

I removed the SATA SSD from my Elitebook 840 G2 (P4C18UC#ABA) and installed a Toshiba RC100 in the M.2 slot, but the drive does not appear as an available boot device.

I have that same problem. I bought Toshiba RC100 M.2 SSD but can't use it.

I have the exact same issue with a Elitebook 850 G2...

It appears that machine only supports a 256gb 2260 nvme. And possibly only only a very specific one.

My laptop supports up to 256GB of M.2 SSD PCIe 2x2. Going to go with either the Crucial MX200 250GB, $125 @ Amazon, or the Transcend MTS600 256GB, $135 @ Amazon.

MicroCenter had a good deal on a Micron M600 256GB for $70 but they are sold out.

He didn't post again, so we don't know if any of those work.

Without further information,you might be better off with a sata ssd. Let's hope that works for you.

The idea is to run 7upv40.cmd ( rt click it and run as administrator) . It then asks you to browse to folder containing the installation media.

It will then integrate the included drivers ( and optionally Simplix update pack) into the installation media.

It does that by mounting the boot.wim, integrates drivers and/or updates, then unmounts boot.wim.

Next it mounts install.wim ( whichever edition you selected),integrates drivers and/or updates, then unmounts install.wim.

Hello. It is me again.
The seller exchange my Toshiba Rc100 for Transcend 420S 240Gb. And now - everything is fine - I`ve installed WIN7 on it and runs great. It is not the solution of the problem, but it`s something - at least I have a working notebook with installed OS on it. Thanks all and best regards.
