Hello.Earlier this evening I attempted to do a system restore. When my computer logged back on it said it was unable to complete the restore and that I should disable my anti-virus and try again. Is this normal? Thanks.

What anti-virus are you using? A system restore changes system files. I suppose it's possible that something within the AV might block a system restore thinking it's malware because malware also tries to change system files. But I've never had that happen using Microsoft Security Essentials. See if your computer is set up as suggested in this tutorial.

It should be perfectly safe to disable Bitdefender. You could also disconnect your internet connection because the system restore data resides on the hard drive and no internet connection should be required.

I get the same with Norton. If I disable tamper protection it works fine.
