Help with USB Problems

I have recently upgraded form Vista to the 32-bit RC version of Windows 7. Everything works fine up until the point when I remove, or plug in any new USB device. At that point all of my USB ports stop working giving me an error code 19. This happens whether I am changing the USB hard drive, network adapter, or pretty much anything. I have already made sure that all of my drivers are up date prior to unplugging/plugging, and Windows 7 is completely up to date as well. My two 64-bit RC versions do not have this issue either.

Hello Cchartman, and welcome to Seven Forums.

It may be a issue that occurred during the upgrade from Vista. You might see if doing a repair install of Windows 7 may be able to fix this for you.

Doing a repair install has been my short-term fix, but it does not seem feasible to do so every time I want to swap out a hard drive. I'm wondering if anyone knows of any more permanent solutions to this issue.

Oh, you didn't mention that you had already did a repair install. If it is still doing this after doing a repair install, then the installation may have been affected somehow with the upgrade from Vista and you may need to do a clean install with Windows 7 instead.
