I have a HP Pavilion DV7-3067cl. I want to do a clean install with just Win7 and no HP bloatware. My question is do I reformat entire HDD and make a seperate partition for Windows 7 and how big? I read the tutorial but was unsure about partition size, and if this partition is for Windows 7 OS only. I have a OEM windows 7 copy from a new Dell computer can I use it? I ran the ABR program to backup my HP OEM cert and key. I have backed up the computer, made recovery disks, and got drivers and OEM cert and key on a flash drive. Here is a copy of my present HDD config...Thanks

Yes, you would reformat. You can use a single big C partition or make a separate partition for Windows, whichever you want. Most people that use a separate partition for Windows make that partition between 60 and 100 GB, depending on how many apps they use.

You can't legally use the Dell OEM disc with the HP. I'm not even sure you could use it illegally. The OEM disc is tied to the Dell motherboard.

You would use the Product Key on your COA to activate, which changes the activation from OEM-SLP used to mass activate at factory to OEM-COA used to clean reinstall factory OEM.

As a modern Dell Installation DVD only contains the OS files and SLP activation, then if it is for your version of Win7 you can try it since it will not auto-activate on your system anyway. If it installs and allows you to activate correctly then it should be good to go.

If not you'll need to find a clean copy Win7 installer for your version to clean reinstall.

Here are tips for getting a perfect reinstall of factory OEM based on hundreds done here: Reinstalling Windows 7

If you use the Dell Installation DVD, the Dell logo will also be installed.

Well, I guess I can just use recovery disks, and use Revo to uninstall all the bloatware
