Help with Windows Fix It Center

Trying to resolve windows update issue and attempting to run Windows Fix It Center - following installation it begin gathering information about the computer but a popup windows appears telling me that "Fix it is unable to download troubleshooters - please check your internet connection"
I am using a laptop running Win 7 Home, connected to the internet via wi fi and the internet is operative.
Does anyone know why I would get the error message when I am connected to the internet.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
