Help!!

Can anyone please tell me how to kill the dial up connection which is making my life really miserable, it pops up even when I have my modem unplugged and when I close or click cancel it just disappears for a second and returns. I close this box several times before it finally gets the message that I do not want to connect, but within 10 minutes it happens again and this continues as long as the laptop is on. see attachment pic to identify the nasty pop up. I can get rid of it totally as I do not use this to connect anyway.

In local network connections just disable local area connection either 1 or 2 which ever is the dial up.

"local area connection" where do I find them to disable them I have looked in control panel, network and sharing but find no reference to LOCAL AREA CONNECTION

If you can go to the network and sharing page then look on the left for change adapter settings. Good luck to you

Open Network & Sharing Center > Change Adapter Settings > Right-click the connection you want to disable and select "Disable"

I cannot yet tell if it is going to work, I could not get a Disable command when right clicking so I took the next best option and deleted the sucker. holding thumbs that I have killed it, Damn thing was like a Trojan Virus Worm on steroids.

I know the feeling I had that issue long ago with a XP machine when I jumped from dial up to Ethernet.

I will try my best to make as if I know what Ethernet is, but please don't elaborate because I would be lost pretty soon.

The cable from the router(Ethernet) versus the phone cable (dial up).

Ya whatever!!! I don't have a phone cable at all. use a 3g modem plugged into USB port. So how was I getting a dial up connection window frustrating the hell out of me? Ya good question.

I suggest a tall glass 3 ice cubes and a generous pour of Whiskey. It may not solve the computer issue but you won't care as much ! lol

In all seriousness have you gone to the network center properties and mark never dial a connection ?

that normally will kill the pop up because your internal modem is searching for a dial tone and either someone or something fiddled with your settings

I would do a full sweep and then proceed with the properties cause a time ago some viruses would do things to your web connection so i would sweep and then hit the properties to solve the issue

Also grab that tall glass of wonder juice Immediatly garunteed to make you're experience less painfull

It's probably the whisky that created the problem, my fingers do things I simply cannot be held responsible for when there is enough whisky pumping throughicnic: them.
