You are very knowledgeable and capable with this stuff, so I feel extra bad if I let you down.

But I weigh that against all your complaints about this old install and think it turned out best.

There was some fly in the ointment we never discovered.

Someone reading this entire 4 day thread will probably spot it.

I always delete the partition I format, then create it New again and format. Keep telling yourself you are not going to delete or format that data partition.

Did the problems you were having arise from installaton problems at all?

Awesome its installed, soz I had to do some house work while it was installing didnt pay attention to this laptop. Thanks alot!! Hopefully i wont run into any trouble while installing the softwares.

If i'm barking up the right tree those binaries are for DX9, W7 comes with DX11. Is it NFS you need the files for?

You could try installing this codec pack instead?

I use NVIDIA so i have no idea about your other problem, sorry!

Yes, you should run Windows Update immediately and update all of your drivers.

It did when I had Vista, now it still works but incredibily slow..

I was reading some of the other search results for that "Preparing your Desktop" bluescreen when you started up after copying Win7 into first partition.

You said it said "Window 7 Build 7600" on the blue screen. Did it also say "This copy of Windows is not Genuine?"

Others had reported this in results.

This is the first fail I've experienced here in about 80+ dual-boot extractions since release date, even after copying Win7 partition over the middle data partition into the deleted Vista space.

It did in fact startup to Windows after recovering the MBR with Startup Repair.

However, bollixed normal Startup and we might have found it in these search results - not that it was cracked (you said you bought Win7) but that WGA stopped the process as it might a cloned copy of Windows.

Had heard it can do this but never saw it before. Does anyone know more about this, or how to avoid it?

What is a clone copy?

And I installed the driver that I got with the wireless card. It is in a CD. I think its the Vista drivers. I tried googling for the 7 drivers I can't find any.
