here comes another bsod thread

The beep codes from your MOBO manual.

Q: What do the beeps emitted during the POST mean?
A: The following Award BIOS beep code descriptions may help you identify possible computer problems. (For reference only.)
1 short: System boots successfully
2 short: CMOS setting error
1 long, 1 short: Memory or motherboard error
1 long, 2 short: Monitor or graphics card error
1 long, 3 short: Keyboard error
1 long, 9 short: BIOS ROM error
Continuous long beeps: Graphics card not inserted properly
Continuous short beeps: Power error

Other info found says any other beeps are memory errors.

The PSU is a possibility, if you have access to another one of suitable size to try, you could rule this out.

Bump the DRAM voltage to 1.7v.

Let's see what the results are, let me know.

I'm still not convinced you will be able to get that ram to work correctly with that motherboard ?

If he still can't get slot 1 to work at all, and still only works with one card, at this voltage, I think we have tried just about everything we can.

If it's still a no go, then my first recommendation is to RMA the RAM and get some from the MOBO RAM list, but the slot 1 issue makes me concerned about the MOBO RAM slot.

to test that theory wouldn't you try slots 2 and 4 to see if it's the ram combo thats causing the instability ?

Did you try the 1.7v DRAM setting?

If you can't get any RAM card to run in slot 1 in a single card configuration, you should RMA the motherboard, bad RAM slot.

I'm also concerned that the current RAM will not run in Dual mode on this motherboard. There is a slim chance it might work on a new MOBO, but I would recommend to RMA the RAM also.
Get a RAM kit from the MOBO manual compatible list.

Let us know how the DRAM 1.7v test went.

Take a look at this sticky thread on the G.Skill site.

sorry my bad for not reading fully all posts :o

my conclusion is that your issue is incompatible ram and not the motherboard slots

certainly looking that way, dave76 also pointed out the issue with phenoms and ddr3 memory. just waiting to hear back from g.skill to see if theres anything i can do to get it stable.
if not i guess it's ebay time :(

Did you try the DRAM at 1.7v?

Have you tried using a single card in slot 1?
Still not working?

Set you RAM timings manually to 9-9-9-24, the first four settings listed, leave the rest on auto.
This sometimes helps stability.

If you still can't get slot one to run with a single RAM card, you should RMA the motherboard.

The memory controller on on the CPU, if the new motherboard doesn't solve the problem, you should check the CPU for bent pins.
You can check that when you remove the MOBO.

ok so heres a funny thing
as i was had nothing much else to do i formatted my hard drive and installed my copy of windows xp
lo and behold, no problems at all!

so whats that all about?

got both sticks of ram in, not showing the full 4gb as its a 32-bit windows but even so i would have assumed: dodgy motherboard=dodgy motherboard regardless?

I think your right, dodgy MOBO.

You'll likely develop problems with XP later on.

I would RMA the board.

Just a thought, what type of media do you have your Win7 installation on?
Original DVD, D/L from the web?

If you D/L'ed it you might have gotten corrupted files when burned to DVD or put on memory stick.

it's a kosher version, well sort of, its a student license which is like the real thing but for layabouts :)

If you put it on a memory stick, which method did you use?
