It is a snowy patch Tuesday here but I would like to know how it went for everyone
I am a bit confused, when looking at mine there is one that says security update for windows kb2887069
when clicking on more info- it shows that one is a kernel drive one but the kb is different kb 2880430Also I have the same thing and it also says it is a kernel drive on for kb28993984 and when clicking on more info it says it is also kb2880430- huh?

what I seem to gather is that kb2887069 and kb2893974 are both for kernel drivers?
Am I correct?
and if so why would Microsoft make 2 kbs the same thing?

I updated several systems and they all updated, re-booted without issues, and no problems so far.
On one W7 x86 system Optional KB2592687 installed successfully, and after re-boot was offered again as an update.
It installed successfully again, and is not "re-offered" after the 2nd update.

Also, fwiw
On a Win XP x86 system it took a LONG time to scan for the updates available.
Haven't done any Vista OS updates yet...

hth,
David

Known Issue :(
The trick there is apparently to kill WU then download and install the IE Cumulative update as a standalone - then reboot and install the others.

Win7 64, I generally have no problems with updates, but this last one just messed up a whole bunch of things. My cache was dumped, had to enter PW's again. Most every web site I visited wanted me to acknowledge that the certificates were not up to date. FF is giving me a message that "it looks like you haven't started FF in a while...." its been constantly on. My system date dropped back to 01/01/2010. Most of the programs in the programs selection were colored orange as if they were new programs. Windows tried to auto update, said internet was not available, yet I could send/receive mail, was able to browse etc. All the icons on the tray went back into hiding. It has taken me a couple of hours now getting things back to normal. :p

From post #10.
My system date dropped back to 01/01/2010.

It's not the update that cause the problem as far as I can tell.
When you loose your systems correct time all kinds of things go goofy.
Normally this means the motherboard battery (cmos battery) has went bad and the bios has lost proper time and therefor Windows 7 lost it's proper time.
I have never known a update do this except when Windows looses its
Genuine status.

Probably true, but this happened when I did the restart after the install. Coincidental I guess, the puter had been on for 5 hrs previous to this. Windows update thru an error that said the time did not match, thats how I discovered the 1/1/2010 date. I have a battery on standby now waiting on tomorrows start up.

Yes I did, manually at first then took some doing trying to sync with the internet. This mornings cold start, the time was correct. The new battery awaits:)

The office post was before I did the install. In frustration, I put that aside and did the Windows update install and things went backwards from that.:p AFter I got things going again, same problem, so just typed it in by hand, rather than copy/paste, and so far things look normal.?

I've installed the updates for Windows 7 on both my machines without any problems, took about 8 minutes for the 10 updates in each case. That leaves the 4 Office 2010 updates on my work machine which I always do separately, and which I'll probably do next week.
