11 updates for me, didn't have a problem, I also had to set up Windows Media Player again, did anybody else have to do this

No problems here either, just checked and I had to set up WMP too.

Yeah I noticed something with media player. It baffled me at first because I have a lot of desktop shortcuts. Once rebooted I saw a gap but as I had so many could not remember which shortcut had vanished. Guess it was the media player one as next time I launched it acted as if first time setup again. All seems fine with it since though! Bit odd nonetheless

I checked media player after i saw this post and found i had to re check Recommended Settings, it acted like it was installing then opened fine. It did this on all 30 Windows 7 computers i put it on, very wierd

Some time in use after the latest patches done on xp, w7 x2, w8, w8.1, and (as usual) zero problems. Am (as always) highly impressed by MS regarding updates, can't recall them ever creating any problem.

For most part the updates are fine, been burnt only a couple of times. Unfortunately I read enough horror stories to still make me dread patch tuesday everytime it rolls around. You never know what Microsoft will throw down the pipe. Do they have to pump out so many all of the time? I remember KB2670838 caused some widespread grief although my hybrid AMD gpu laptop survived this one.

The worst updates I have seen appear in recent times are probably the optional ones Internet Explorer 10 and Internet Explorer 11. Been a bit shocked by how bad they are!!!

The biggest problem with updates by far is pre-existing problems!
These can vary from a minor malware infection locking a file to a major HDD malfunction.
On a well-maintained machine there's almost never any problem

I've not seen any problems here, mine always include any Office updates there may be as well. Did 2 Windows 7 desktops a 7 laptop and an 8.1 Notebook.
