Solved Here's one you haven't heard before.....

I'll try to make this as short as possible so....... I'm down in north Florida for an extended stay. My net connection is terrible so I have to go outdoors to be connected. Now anyone who's ever been in Florida knows that the bugs and insects here are ferocious and numerous. Having said that...... Theres these tiny little bright red spiders/mites. (They could possibly BE spidermites) About 3 weeks ago I had one get between the layers of my screen, don't ask me how , I touched my screen and squashed it. Its still there and I would like to get it out but thats not what I'm writing about. This morning while online I saw ANOTHER tiny tiny something crawling around inside my screen. I know it was inside because when I brushed it (no more squashing! lol) it just kept on going. Twenty minutes later it crawled speedily past my field of view again. Now , for my question(s). One.... how in the world did it get BETWEEN the layers of my screen and how can I remove it. Second, my Asus G74Sx has HUGE cooling vents in the back and I'm wondering if and how I could.....restrict them to insect invasion. Will listen to anything reasonable . Thirdly..... could there be insects (spidermites?) living IN my computer and how would I remove them?

Ok...... I just tried to do a screen capture to show the squashed bug..... its not showing on the capture but its there.

First thing I'd do is file a "bug" report with Asus.

I'm afraid the only thing constructive I may have to offer is to the name of your particular pest. I believe your poor machine may be infected with chiggers.

lol.... I don't blame you.... it was all I could do to not name this thread "A Buggy Problem".

Thanks for the info on the insect though, I do believe you're right. They are bright bright red and sorta leggy and "spiderish". Now , on to google to see if they lay eggs or spin webs or what...... I'm worried about my motherboard to tell you the truth.

Don't laugh at this possible solution, but it worked for a friend of mine.

On the basis that these insects like heat and light you could try switching your monitor off, and then place a bright light at the top of you monitor in the hope any insects will crawl towards it and leave from whence they came.

And Mickey Megabyte ..... don't know about a thread but I DO remember seeing a picture here of a spider infested desktop in the chill out room ........ and the bug was lol funny.

Why do you have to go outdoors to get an internet connection?

If you need to borrow a connection that isn't buggy you can go indoors to a Panera for the price of a bottomless cup of coffee or soda and great sandwiches..

If indeed they are chiggers, they are parasites that get under your skin and feed off your blood. Not nearly as dangerous as ticks but itchy as all heck! Some remedies for the human ailments are suffocating them with fingernail polish or some other such lacquer or, burning them with a cigarette or similar hot item. The former is less painful but takes far less time...and probably offers much more in the way of relief for the insane itching.

Wish I knew how to get them out of your machine.

That's a good idea.

There is a similar bug here that is harmless but looks like a chigger and I remember keeping it as a pet and playing with it as a 5 year old. It is named Bir Bahuti and when I saw the picture of chigger I thought that it was Bir Bahuti.

It is widespread throughout the sub-continent, and although it doesn't fly the English name is Lady Fly.

My advice would be not to squash any more buggers inside the screen as they stick to the screen and difficult to remove later.

Other alternative to keeping a bright light near the screen is to keep your system in bright sunlight near an open window inside your house (not outdoors again!) in a dry area for an hour or so.

If the bug is very small and when u smash it it looks like a blood spot, it could be a "clover mite"
As to Your fix,take apart what you can and work the bugs out. You mite get lucky.

Well, because I'm living waaaaayyyyyy out in the country and the nearest town is small and has no Paneras (I agree about the sandwiches). Outside because I'm living in a (seriously) a bulletproof trailer, I can't even get a cell phone signal inside and can see the tower. House-sitting for a friend and may be here the summer. Never lived in the country before and its kinda nice to tell you the truth.

@ carwiz *Blush* All I can say is that I was extremely worried about my machine and my motherboard.Just wasn't thinking. Not so much now as before since the bug has been identified and is not a spider. Was worried about webs inside my machine. Thanks to all who contributed and also ty for a few smiles from the comedians as we all can use an extra laugh these days. I'm going to mark this solved now.

Oh, kept my machine under a lamp last night and so far haven't seen anything today. Will do the same while working and this evening too.

Don't do that!!! You'll end up with a spot that is very distracting, take it from someone who knows!
