Hey my friends Pc turns of unexpectedly, i am not sure what is causing this fault, i do not think it is the CPU or RAM as that usually results in a BLUE SCREEN.

I have noticed that the top of the case where the PSU is housed is way too hot, i have even opened it up and touched the PSU and it is way too hot. It even smells as if it is burning.

Here is some temp and voltage readings etc.

Well if the PSU is cranking up the ambient temperature of your rig it will turn itself off, an attempt of self-preservation from your PC :D. Seeing as how cheap PSUs have become I would try replacing it, it is the mostly likely cause of your problem given the symptoms and observations you've provided.

Your voltages all look fine ~to me~ the only thing that's a little high on your read-out is the temperature of your graphics card, 132F is a little toasty.

The psu puts out negative voltages.
Sounds likes you are requiring too much power than what the PSU can put out. Upgrading that would be the first start.

How many/much watts is the supply rated at? And what are the specs of your friends machine?

The GeForce 8400 GS card is slow and only needs a power supply of 250-300 watts.

If the power supply smells of burning and is very hot you should consider changing it - soon.

The computer is turning itself off as an act of self-preservation at the excessive heat being generated by the PSU.

Check out this power supply calculator.
It came up with recommend 284W, but I think you can fill in the specs a bit more accurately.

Another thing to check is dust build up around the fans or heatsinks. Need to keep them clean.

It should go without saying, but I had to call someone on it today, use canned air to blow dust out of a computer, and not an air compressor with a blower tip. Air compressors generate moisture and blow it right into your rig.

Heh...
Reminds me of the time I was a friends house, and another guy turned up wanting his machine fixed because it was 'slow'.
We opened it up and there was at least a 1/2" of dust over everywhere. The guy never cleaned it in 6years.
We had an aircompressor, which in hindsight wasnt a good idea to use in a single garage next to his sports car... ~120PSI and 25 minutes later...
But back on topic.
