While I HATE compressed mp3 music anyway and have a particular loathing for those hideous white bud earphones where the long sufferring public gets to hear more of the "Music" than the wearers of these dreadful phones I'd suggest that THIS solution might be a "bit over the top".
Yeah, I do have to wonder about the prices of some of the speakers. At Staples, they have these ear buds that cost $99.00. I asked around if anyone had them & if they felt the price was worth it. The one person I found who bought them told me they were a "little better", but he didn't feel they were worth the price.

The most I've paid for a pair of noise isolating earbuds is $75. They're skullcandy's full metal jacket audiophile green. They came with a lifetime warranty, and the cords are braided nylon instead of rubber(I've not had a single tangle with these in almost a year of ownership.) The quality of sound is definitely superior to a previous pair I had from Skullcandy that i paid about $20 for.
Something to remember while looking at the £10K speaker : its not the size/quality of the driver so much as the format of the audio. WAV offers the highest quality available for digital music (that I'm aware of).
I listen to a large number of live streamed shows from across the world on Digitally Imported Radio. When listening from home you are given options to select what format you would like to stream. You can definitely hear the difference between 64k streams and the 264k streams.
IMHO spending £10k on a single speaker is downright ridiculous even in a studio environment. :sarc:

I'm always willing to pay more money for better headphones and earbuds...but there is obviously a limit. This is a case of being way, way, way over that limit.
