Hibernation stopped working

It was working just fine and then one day... nothing. When I press the power on button on my PC (I have assigned the Power On button to hibernate in the control panel) the screen goes to sleep but the PC stays on.

What should I do?

Might re-check your power option settings. Right-click on the power icon in the system tray -> Power Options and make sure you have hibernation enabled and assigned to the power button.

EDIT: If all looks fine there, a background program might be running, keeping the machine from entering hibernation.
