Hidden Admin account default profile problem

Hi all.

I have been up and down various boards over the last few days, and though I have found many suggestions, I keep finding myself in an endless loop.

I enabled the Hidden Admin account on my Win7 Pro laptop. The account was created without a hitch, but when I try to login, I get a defualt profile loading up. Blank desktop, and a very limited user profile. Not even a command prompt in the "Accessories" folder in the Start menu. When I try and access the Users folder, I get denied. Strange, as this is the "Super" Hidden Admin account.

I have found suggestions with regards to Regedit, but the account is not listed in profiles list. Only my original "Jay" account and system profiles (network, local).

I have tried to create other accounts. I created a Standard account, without a password, and I get this error.....

"User profile services failed the login....."

This error too led me to a Regedit solution, but again, the account is not present. In fact no new user folders are created when I make a new account.

When I try to view Users folder from my "Jay" account, which works brilliantly, there are no other user folders. It's like it allows me to create new user accounts, but is loading a default profile instead with all accounts I create.

Restore point won't work as I cleared all but my most recent the other day ( my one account is doing great, so I cleared my restore points and made a system image.....now I wish I hadn't)

I don't know where to go from here.....other than maybe a repair install ??? Kind of freaks me out about maybe messing up my only good profile/account I have going right now.

Thanks for the suggestion Shawn. I decided to start a full file backup and system image of my current setup as it stands.

Once that is complete, I will try the "safe mode" boot suggestion (one I haven't tried yet). Will post back as soon as possible. Thanks Shawn.

PS....I noticed the link is a Vista forums link.....I suppose the procedure carries across both the 7 and Vista platforms ?

Yeah, it works with both Vista and Windows 7. :)

Hey there Shawn. So I got all my stuff backed up.

I booted into Safe Mode. But it didn't help.

First, I logged into the Hidden Admin account (in Safe Mode). But because the default profile is loaded, I can't access Regedit.

So I logged into my Jay account (in Safe Mode). But again, I run into the single user profile .... "Jay"

regeditJAY.PNG

As well, I again created another account. So I have "Jay" account, "Admin" (Hidden admin) account, and the other standard user one. But the other two (the standard account, and hidden admin) are not visible either in Regedit, or in Windows Explorer folders.

Kinda stuck in the same place. It's funny, because my Hidden Admin account has less options and access to Windows and such than my regular Admin "Jay" account.

I am thinking something is corrupt somewhere.

So I ran the sfc /scannow command. Nothing appears faulty.

Ran full scan with Malwarebytes and then full system scan with MSE. Nothing, all is good.

Baffled. Again, I am at the point of running a Repair Install. Holding, waiting for orders.....lol

Try the items listed in the yellow TIP box at the top of the tutorial to see if they may be able to help instead. :)

Thanks for that, but System Restore, as stated in OP is not an option. Tried it, but it doesn't go back far enough. Only to the other day.

A Clean Install......if I am not mistaken.......would kill my good profile. That is why I was thinking Repair Install, but still even leary about that.

My last feasible option is to try the link in the yellow tip box.

Rob Brooks-Bilson's Blog: Fix for Vista's: The User Profile Service service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded

About the Clean Install. That would be a complete re-install of my Win7 Pro, would it not?

I absolutely need to keep this "Jay" account, and all datat intact, including services, and programs that currently run "thru" it.

Is there anyway to get the benefits of a clean install, without "starting from scratch" ?

This issue (as I am the only REAL user of this laptop) is not so important to warrant a complete revamp, and rebuild just to add another account. My "Jay" account has full access to everything. I just thought I could create another standard account for browsing, and for the occasional guest to use......and the guest account also fails as well. :p

I just stumbled across this problem, and figured it would be a quick fix. HA :(
