Hi Guys,

I have a question if there is a way to hide the "local Area Connection" icon in the Change Adapter Settings window.

We do not want the regular users changing settings that they do not understand. Of course this is for Windows 7.

A way to do it via Group Policy would be benefitial.

Thanks in advance.

There is a setting in group policy editor that can disable any Users ability to work with the LAN connections settings. There are over 2000 settings but it's hard to say exactly which one you want unless you look them all over and test them out to see the effect they have.

For this particular setting go to "User configuration"> Admin templates>All settings>Near the top of the list choose "Ablity to enable or disable a LAN connection", then enable or disable it depending on what you want.

Thanks for your quick reply. In GPMC it says that this setting is only for W2K W2K3 server and XP and i want this setting for W7.
