Hello,
I have a problem with ping, I checked that thread but it still isn't working properly :(
I'm working on Windows 7 (7057 x86) and d'link router (on Windows Vista Home Premium it works the same...). I tried to connect with wireless connection or cable and every time ping was very high.

BTW Excouse me, but my english isn't so good, I'm form Poland.
Please, help me, I don't know what to do.

Wireless can be interrupted by many things including but not limited to Cordless phones, flouresent lights (the ballasts in them specifically), some baby monitors, and even the building materials. Make sure your wireless router/device is in a central location if not in the same room as your PC. You can also try logging into the router and changing the wireless channel frequency to vary it from possible cordless phone interruptions.

Hello kreska, and welcome to the Seven Forums

As you say it worked the same on Vista it could simply be that the figure you are getting is the best you can get from that particular server on speedtest.net :(

you can try another server that is close to you physically but the ping is set by things external to your control

Hi and welcome. Your english is fine, dont worry. I see your ISP is Polish Telecom. What do they say your speed should be? If it was the same in vista and win 7 was there a time when it was better or was it always like this?

Again welcome and I hope I helped somewhat

Ken

Hi all,

I never normally post but this issue took me a good 4 hours to resolve....

I was on a solid 50Mbp line on speedtest.net installed windows 7 (previously Vista) and went down to 6Mbp and really laggy ping spikes.

Everyone told me it was the isp but from reading this post I knew it was windows 7 and refused to give up.

Tried all of the above fixes from cmd commands / audio fixes / Graphical Fixes / antivirus fixes / bandwith reservation.. / disabling IPV6 and so on.....

All had a slight but mimimal effect but did not fix it.

The last thing I tried was updating my routers Firmware and it fixed the issue.

Im no tech expert but can safley say that there is a diffrence in the windows 7 internet code / settings.

For info router was a NetGear Wireless N Router

So as a first priority before installing windows 7

a) make sure you download your modem / router drivers
b) update your router settings.

Hope this helps.
