I finally came here after a very helpful essenbe pointed me in this direction.

So, my name is Flax Seed and I'm an alcoholi....

No wait wrong forum :p

essenbe said I should come over here but I'll be honest, I don't overclock and when I seen the thread topics I thought 'I'll get a ribbing over there because I don't speak the lingo" but essenbe said you guys are cool and are the best to ask about future purchases I plan to make.

Can I ask you guys something, this might sound weird, well, weird to me.

Does having a new psu or cpu/fan/mobo have teething problems. This happened more than once for me. I got a new psu (1000w corsair). I had to pump it (if that makes any sense). I was almost in tears thinking after I had replaced my old psu that it didn't work, it seems I had to let the power have time to flow?

Is that how they work? I was about to send my new psu back to corsair and all of a sudden "It's alive!" and worked ever since.

Lol pump it = off, on, off, on, reset, inject adrenaline lol. Panic attack from a noob, it worked in the end :S

This seems to happen to me a lot. It's probably because I'm an impatient moron. After I got my new cpu, when I sat it and pulled the arm, I freaked out because it made what can only be described as tiny robot leafs being crushed. I lifted the arm and yet again, almost tears lol (crybaby) I thought I had flattened the cpu connectors and that was why my new mobo wouldn't power on.

Turns out, thanks to corsair, the 12 pin slipped out on the psu end when I was changing mobo's :(
I almost sent mail to Amazon <--idiot

Be advised a Corsair (i) power supply will cycle one time if it has be removed from power. It is designed to do that. It is testing itself.
It will also turn it self on and off if it senses a short to any thing that it is plugged into.
Example:
If one has a shorted fan or lights the (i) Corsair power supply will sense it and cycle or shut down. I learned that the hard way.

First off lets try to stick with some sort of basic computer terms.
Pumping is not one of them.

If your power supply is turning on and off it probably detects a short from something that is plugged into the power supply.

The first thing I would recommend checking is the motherboard stand offs. If their is one in the wrong place or a extra one it could short the motherboard.

It also helps to build your system outside the case first to make sure it works before you put it all in the case.
If everything works outside the case and you have problems after installing in the case you have installed something in the case wrong.
