HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GSA-H55N ATA Device Problem

I have a problem with my DVD Room, HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GSA-H55N ATA Device. It won't read blank CD's/I can't burn on blank CD's nothing, but on DVD i can :/ What's the probleM? Can u help me to fix it, please? Thanks.

A guess:

DVD burners use different diode lasers for CDs and DVDs. Perhaps the laser for CDs has failed.

It's usually not worth spending money on diagnosis or repair, as replacement drives are cheap (at least, they're cheap in the USA).

One caveat: if you need the SecureDisk feature of the GSA-H55N, that may be harder to replace.
