Hi, I'm new to Windows 7 and just installed in on my PC this morning. When I first installed it I kept getting an "unidentified Public Network" as my only network. I am connected through a hardline that goes to a router that is connected to DSL. If I restart the computer SOMETIMES the Unidentified Public Network goes away and a Home Network shows up and the internet connects, but this only lasts from a couple minutes up to a couple hours then it shuts off again. The only things I have been able to do to get it to come back on is go into my Local Area Connection Properties, go down to the IPv4 properties and switch it to "Use the following IP" then I put in my numbers I got from the command prompt ipconfig /all. After I do this I click ok and go to Diagnose under the local area connection and it pops up that I do not have DHCP enabled and then it fixes itself and it works for another couple mins/hours. The other thing thats odd is when its working the connecting network is just called "Network" and on the windows 7 laptop I have it connects as Frontier which is my service provider.
Im just looking for an answer to fix this. Any suggestion are greatly appreciated.

Network adapter is an onboard Generic Marvell Yukon 88E8056 based ethernet controller

For these types of problems you can usually solve them all by simply updating the firmware on your router.

If you can type ipconfig /all into your command prompt and post the results here we can see if DHCP from the router is working correctly.
