Hi Guys I am having problems with the wifi signal in my house.

The router is downstairs near the phone master socket but the Wifi signal upstairs is not so good.

I am looking at buying some home power line network plugs.

My question is do these things work and will I still be able to get a wifi signal upstairs or will I have to use a Ethernet cable upstairs

Also I have several cordless phones using the home mains wiring system, so will this not work with the wifi extenders

Hello,

You may always give it a try, you won't be able to find out if it's going to work in your current network setup without experimenting. Here's one that I've found without plugging in any ethernet cables. Buy from a reputable Vendor for a hassle free return in case the device didn't work out for you.

Thanks for the advice I have a look at the link you sent.

I should have pointed out I live in the UK.

I have had a look for the item on amazon UK.

They have it for sale including shipping it is about £140 UK pound and is shipped from USA.

Too much for me just to try it.

Check out this thread for info on the power line adaptors, they're easy to set up and give very good performance.

Thanks guys just the info I needed

PS I complained to my ISP witch is Sky and they sent an broadband engineer out and he changed the faceplate on my master phone socket and now the Wifi is a lot fast and reaches into almost every room now.

yes I agree but its took almost 8 months of complaining to get it sorted

Have had nearly every Isp except Sky .. I read some where that the Broadband and the TV uses the same connection

I don't think I could touch Sky as an ISP after the troubles my mom had with them. I use Virgin, and even though their upload speeds are criminal I can't say I've ever had a problem with them.
