just got a vaio with windows7 and can't connect to my home network. i can connect to other networks as i've tried at other locations (coffee shops). i checked the manufacturers website to see if my router is compatible (d link wbr 2310) and it says it already is compatible. another forum suggested disabling ms virtual miniport adapter, which i tried, and that solution does not work. both miniport adapter and atheros adapter are updated with most current version.

on top of this, i got a load of BSOD with "driver irql less than..." messages and took the machine back to where i got it for repair. they said they fixed it but i've gotten this one more time.

help, please

If you're getting a BSOD you have a more serious problem. If it's related to the wireless driver something is definitely broken.

Can you record what info shows up on the BSOD? It would help in diagnosing where the problem is.

He meant the working of the BSOD. Also, when precisely does this BSOD come up?

How far into the Window startup, were you able to see the Welcome word on the screen or was it before or after that?

See my sig, that is a BSOD saying "An Fatal except..", what's the content of yours?

Those series of zeros usually are very helpful. Anyway, it sound like you have device and driver compatibility issue. I think the guys over at crashes and debugging forums would be best to help.

i'll repost over there, thanks. when i took the thing in they told me the BSOD's were caused by me having both avast and avg installed at the same time. they took out avg.
