Home Premium Clean Install Without Viao Bloat

Hi,

I have just bought myself a new sony vaio laptop and im applauded at the amount of pre-installed bloat (30+ pieces of useless software).

1. is there any way i can use the recovery partition and bypass the bloat installing?
or
2. if i get hold of a dodgy copy of home premium OEM can I use that with my serial number to preform a clean install (leaving the recovery partition)? missing drivers etc is no problem.

Yes, most tech enthusiasts find a clean copy DVD of their version to clean reinstall without bloatware using Product Key stickered to machine.

You do not want a "dodgy" copy, however. Your first choice should be to borrow one from a friend which you can copy using ImgBurn, or if it is a different version extract ISO using ImgBurn, then use ei.cfg removal tool to unlock all versions to burn to DVD: Ei.cfg Removal Utility Lets You Use Any Product Key With Your Windows 7 Disc

If you must download it, then be sure to check the HASH against official HASH sum to make sure nothing has been added. Also rightclick scan with your AV as soon as downloaded.

I think it will have to be a downloaded copy, do you by any chance know of of a safe torrent for home premium 64bit? also is that checksum for the iso file?

Check out PC Decrapifier first, see if it cleans things up enough. If not, you can always go with a clean install.

We are not allowed to link to downloads as it encourages piracy, even though we know you have a valid license.

Read all the comments for any download to know what to expect, scan immediately with AV and check the ISO HASH.

OK well I downloaded an iso over night for home premium (eightforums?), the hash checks out and the AV came back as clean.

The disc works so im ready to give it a whirl and ill let you know how it goes.

update:
installation went as planned. thanks guys, some really good advice and guides, top stuff!

one small problem however, windows would not activate online but when I rang the code through it activated fine. any reason for this to happen?

This is because the Product Key on sticker is a batch key so they don't have to put a separate sticker on every laptop. The robocall is for MS to sort out the individual key from the batch via the series of numbers traded.

Newer drivers will arrive soon via optional Windows Updates. Find any driver missing in Device manager on the Support DOwnloads webpage for your model.

Suggest you install programs slowly to gauge performance after each. Don't let any programs write themselves into your msconfig>Startup list except AV and gadgets, or they freeload on your RAM/CPU.

Use a lightweight unobtrusive AV like free MS Security Essentials with the perfected Windows 7 Firewall.

After installing everything, clean and order your HD perfectly with state-of-the-art CCleaner and Auslogics Disk and Registry defragger. Then save externally a Win7 Backup Image so you never have to reinstall again - just reimage the HD or replacement using DVD or REpair CD.
