Ok, this is a picky question, but I have a desktop and a laptop both in a Windows 7 homegroup. We know both are there.

Desktop PC shows Laptop in Homegroup, but the desktop itself does not show up on its own display list

however,

Laptop PC shows Laptop and Desktop in Homegroup in its display list.

Tried everything cannot get both PCs to show up in the listing of the desktop but I obviously know that both are setup.

Both computers have myself, my wife, and the guest enabled as users.

If the shares are not even viewable on the computer in question that would suggest file and printer sharing hasn't been activated. Or consequentially has been manually disabled.

I can come up with a number of reasons why the other computers can't see the shares, but am very short on reasons why the shares don't even show on the host itself.
