I am on Windows 7, cable modem, PC... I only have 1 computer in my home. There are no other computers on my connection.

However, when I turned my computer on today, I got a prompt asking me to join a Homegroup... I was under the impression that you only get the homegroup prompt if you aleady have other computers on your network. I have no others computers on my network/connection... just me and my 1 PC.

What is the deal here? Why am I getting prompted to join a homegroup? Maybe its nothing, but its causing some concern.

The original prompt that I got said, "This computer is connected to a network. Windows will automatically apply the correct network settings based on the networks location".

Sir, would you happen to have a wireless router anywhere in the house? I know you didn't mention one but if you do somebody might be leeching your internet connection.

Other then that you can check to see if theres a very long cable running from your modem, across your yard, and into your neighbors house.

No... my cable is plugged straight into my PC's modem.

As for your 2nd suggestion... I live in a pretty large apt building. The cable box is padlocked.
