Hi,
I have a desktop and a netbook set up on a homegroup. They both are able to share files, folders and printers just fine. However I do also have a laptop that is connected to the same homegroup and is unable to share anything. When I try to access any other computer in "Network" it asks me to put in a password that I was unaware I had (See Picture). No computers are locked, or passworded. I have tried the original homegroup password, and my network password both with no success. Please help, any assistance is appreciated!Capture.PNG

Thank you
Steven

are all the machines win 7 or is the network mixed OS? Homegroup uses IPv6 and that sometimes has connectivity issues. You can verify that is the problem by creating a new network connection using "workgroup" not homegroup. If it works you can then disable IPv6 and kill homegroup.

Added benefit workgroup uses the older password setup which is easier.

Hello,
Thank you for replying. All computers are currently running windows 7. I thought homegroup was pretty useful? If it is possible i would like to keep it but if not i can ditch it. I just do not know how to set up a workgroup and exploit its usefulness.

You should check the Time/date on the problem machine. It needs to be in sync with the other Homegroup machines or you will get a password prompt and will be unable to share anything. This same problem comes up all the time. :)
