Homegroup

I really don't get homegroups. Before Windows 7 I've shared files across the computers in my home using networking. Networking is very easy to set up. It's very easy to identify the files/folders to share via networking. And, networking doesn't restrict the files shared to only libraries.

What am I missing? Why should I use Homegroup instead of standard Networking?

I have a home network with four computers.
Windows 7 build 7100 RC

HomeGroup simplifies network sharing. Most average home users don't know the basics when it comes to NTFS or SMB shares, or best practices. HomeGroup allows people to share docs with a few clicks.

It also allows for sharing between Windows Live IDs, which is still a WIP.

Another benefit is not having to create the same local accounts on all machines.
