Homegroups visible, unable to open libraries

My girlfriend finally got Windows 7, and we both are now running it. I was eager to check out the homegroup function of Windows 7. Now, we are both visible to each other in the home group, but neither of us can open the others libraries. When I try to open her library, absolutely nothing happens.

I'm at a loss of what to do here. Thought homegroup was suppose to make networking easy.... it sure hasn't.

If you are still having problems try leaving the Homegroup on both machines then create a new one and rejoin the new Homegroup from the other machine.

Setting up a homegroup allows two or more computers to network easily, but you may still have to configure sharing and permissions options.

You could, if you wish, dispense with a homegroup and use a workgroup instead then configure your sharing options.

Once every computer has left the homegroup, it will no longer exist.

If you still have to mess with permissions.... then what's the point of homegroup? Wasn't it suppose to make it easier for every day users to network on Windows 7, without having to mess with share permissions and such? If you still have to do that stuff, why not just use a work group?

Honestly, I might just forget it. I got my old school workgroup set up and it does the job. I'd like to get it working though. Had no idea I'd encounter so much trouble.

meh still no help. Couldn't find any solution on the internet. Guess I'll stick to work group.

No doubt an A/V or third party firewall was blocking shares. It's too bad that Homegroups are blamed for these types of problems because it works perfectly for me.

Once the Homegroup is set up the only permission adjustments required would be to add the write permissions to the folders. Read permissions are enabled by default.
