My dog stepped on my laptop and now the homepage is verticals and cursor is moving opposite from the way it is supposed to move. How can I get it back to load horizontally?

That can be a bit tricky because of the mouse moving "wrong". It's easier to fix with the keyboard shortcuts.
Press and hold down both CTRL and ALT keys, press UP ARROW, it should set your display correctly.
For future reference, the CTRL + ALT + DOWN ARROW flips the display upside down, CTRL + ALT + LEFT ARROW vertical, top of the display towards left, and CTRL + ALT + RIGHT ARROW vertical, top of the display towards right.

Well, first thing that I'm going to say is that your dog is pesky, lol.
Mine would never do that. More of the fact because he is scared dead of the computer!
Anyway, how to fix it is by doing;
CONTROL + ALT + Moving your arrow keys to whatever your screen needs to fit!
