Hooking up to TV

I used to be able to watch programs that were on my laptop on my TV via HDMI or via a monitor cable. Now when I try the TV does not "see" the laptop. I have tried to fix this using FN/F5 button but to no avail. With my other laptop it works fine. Any ideas?

Do you have the proper video drivers loaded that included the HDMI out?

I assume so. It used to work fine and it should still work with the monitor cable.

Wait, so you are trying it with a video cable now? Do you have them connected before powering on the laptop and TV?

Is puter set for auto updates?
If so check the lastest update history and see if something was installed driver wise. Many times windows drivers will not work.
