clean install of windows 7...about 35% installing files, I get lightning-bolt looking horizontal lines across my screen. has happened 3 or 4 times at same point in install. any ideas?
Can we have some systemspecs please as what you have posted gives us not that much (or anythingat all with some folks) to work with and given there are so many manufacturersof components and configurations that do influence what goes on within anygiven machine and OS. Ok mate now two things just how old is that board and 2GB of RAM is right on the bottom end of the scale for installing 7 can you upgrade to 4GB?
My other query is have you updated the drivers for 7? for that board and the GPU? if you have one installed otherwise the on board graphics drive will need to be installed.
But first I would suggest you reseat all cables and cards - RAM included and try again.
I would even suggest maybe the monitor is going south too is that very old?
PS What bit system are you trying to install 32 or 64bit?

board is just over 3 years. have not updated drivers because this happens to screen during install so I can't complete install. windows 7 32 bit have tried a different monitor..same thing
Ok I know what you mean now do you have another cable you could try - I am trying to get the simple things out of the way first.
Now the next thing I would be looking at is the PSU - again which you cannot and also the drive - have you got a spare drive to use? oh and did you clean up that drive before the install attempt?
Plus did you give the machine a good clean out before the install?
Just by the by what media are you using to install and more importantly where did it come from because there are a lot of scammers out there who sell on counterfeit software. If you have bought a new OEM genuine then there should be no problems.
There are many possibilities and the worst case scenario is a bad board I suppose.
