Hotkey for volume?

I want to use a hotkey on my keyboard for adjusting Window 7's volume control. I do NOT want to use a hotkey for specific programs, just for Window 7 volume control.

Can this be done w/o a 3rd party program?

No media keys on your keyboard? My Logitech keyboards have volume up, down, etc keys on them and they work in windows 7 without having to install the setpoint software. I poked around in windows control panel but didn't see anywhere to set or change those key assignments.
