I am in the process of doing a little "House Cleaning" of software I don't use or don't need or think I need.
Please check the 2 captures snaps and let me know if I don't need them and can safely uninstall them.

You may want to check my system specs before advising me. TIA
I will be in and out all day but will get back ASAP!

Regarding the Adobe programs:

You can delete them all. If you end up needing one of them, you will be prompted to download same. This is an easy way of updating your Adobe software.

If you're not using the visual stuff, you can delete same.

Generally, I've found MS and other software more forgiving of our over-deleting than in the XP/vista years.

Also have an Asus ha1002xp netbook with Win 7 Ultimate installed.
I would keep Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Reader. I program in Flash and have numerous documents I read which are PDF files. I have no need for Adobe Media Player. Adobe Air is also used for developers. And based on your Visual C++, somebody on your computer must have been a developer/programmer.

Lemur,
Thanks for you input.
I am the only one using this computer from its conception and I can assure you I am not a developer/programmer. I can barely chew gum and walk at the same time with respect to computer knowledge.

Thanks for your feed back on my House Cleaning tasks.
Will make changes later this week when I get more feedback from others.

Dennis, I'd keep the 2 flash (one is IE, the other FF or Opera). Keep the adobe reader if it is your desired program for pdf files (look into Foxit, or Sumatra if you want less bloat, and fewer security issues).

You can keep the C+ 2010 if you have space. You likely installed something that wanted them. Keep Silverlight if you want to use Bing visual search. Otherwise you can dump it and the rest in the 2nd screenshot.

Of all you show, I have the 2 flash, and one C+. Just FYI. A Guy

You could dump the Adobes, except for Reader and the Flash Players.
Silverlight is Microsofts version of Flash, so keep that.

Dump the studio tools, and the C++2008. Keep the c++2010 redistro's, as they may be needed when using or installing other programs.

I second A Guy's suggestion to look into Foxit Reader because it it a fraction the size of Adobe Reader and it works just as well.

I play a game, the viewer for which, installs the Microsoft Visual C++ libraries. I do not and have never done that kind of programming, I'm more of a web guy.

I'll third the Foxit suggestion. Since I found that, I don't even bother installing Acrobat.

+1 for foxit reader it is much better than adobe offerings.

Steer clear of adobe because like apple they bloat your system up and want to take control of your system by installing many many other things that you didn't ask for.

You will need flash though if you view videos on-line.

Although Flashplayer is needed to view video content online I uninstalle Adobe Reader years ago and replaced it with the ultra lightweight Foxit Reader and I have no problems reading PDF's.

You might wanna need Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to remove some more unneeded things they may leave behind.

Download Windows Installer CleanUp Utility 2.5.0.1 Free - Remove Windows Installer configuration information on failed installs - Softpedia

Be careful using the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility. It was removed by MS because it can remove the saved installers in C:\windows\Installer (this is a hidden OS folder), making it difficult to uninstall certain programs. I have personally used WICU on XP, but not had need on Windows 7. It may well work fine, but best to suggest it as a last resort. A Guy

I only used it on programs that I know are gone, uninstalled. They are the just the remnants. Though it displays entries from programs that are still installed, I ignore those. I got no problems so far.

Dennis in 1st shot, delete Acrobat.com and Adobe Media Player. And delete Acrobat Reader if you install Foxit. Acrobat Reader currently has a vulnerability, they are expected to patch it within the next 1 to 2 weeks. But they are constantly having new vulnerabilities, and I dumped it many months ago for Sumatra PDF reader. More people prefer Foxit, but if you only occasionally open a pdf file, Sumatra will suit you.

In 2nd screen, you can safely delete all but the two MsXML entries. If C++ is ever needed by something you install, it would likely prompt for you to install it.

A Guy
