This is driving me crazy. I'm an avid XP fan.

My new computer has W7, and this is driving me crazy.

Whenever my cursor is anywhere near the taskbar at the bottom, it brings up views, like thumbnails, of every program, thus blocking the bottom quarter or so of my screen.

I know this was a Vista thing, too. I've gone into the taskbar settings option and turned off the Aero Peek option, but that didn't seem to fix it.

It's driving me CRAZY!!!!

Is there any way to turn this feature off?

It drives me crazy also,

I'll wait for an answer myself.

I've tried multiple things and can not get it o go away.

The closest I came was right-clicking om the Start Button,. choose properties,. the select Combine when taskbar is full

How odd! I've never experienced that issue in any installation of any version of windows. I don't get thumbnails of open apps unless I hover over them. I'll be interested to see what the issue is caused by.

OK, the only way I could figure out how to do the screenshot is to put it into a word doc. I'm sure there's a better way, but I don't know W7 well enough yet.

Are you able to see this? If not, please give me a better suggestion! LOL

Oops, it took a .docx file and rejected it. You should be able to see this.

I'm referring to the squares at the bottom of the screen. How do I turn those off?

There is an option to switch these thumbnails by using Gpedit.msc, if available in your version of Windows 7, (User - Administrative Templates - Start & Taskbar- last entry).

However It states vista only so not sure if it works with win7

Group policy will normally require a log-on, log-off for user settings or a reboot for computer items.

Have also seen some discussion of a reg hack for this but can't place it at the moment - will post back if i find anything :)
