How can I connect BluRay to network

Hello:

I have a LAN and Homegroup and my wife's and my computer are connect. I also have a BluRay player connected via Ethernet cable to my gateway (cable modem + router), but I cannot see it (I can play Netflix movies on it, though). How can I add the BluRay to my homegroup so that I can play music from my computer to it (or rather to my amplifier via the BluRay)?

I think it's actually a setting buried in the blu ray menus.
What model blu ray player is this?

It is a Samsung Blu-Ray Disc Player With WiFi, model: BDC6500.

The overall user input on the wireless for that model is relatively negative

There is apparently a firmware update available from samsung that fixes the connection problems with the device.
You will have to see samsung support for that information though.

I have no problems with connection, since I use an Ethernet cable (please see my introductory message). (I did have problems with wireless connection due to the distance between the router and the BluRay.)

I was just wondering how I would, at least in principle, get the BluRay to show up in my homegroup (if at all possible). It is obviously part of my LAN, so I remain hopeful

You need a player with DLNA capability, I can't see anything on whether yours supports it or not. I know the LG I have does.

Great to know that it is possible. I found this on the Samsung site:

" All the content on your PC can be directly streamed to your Blu-Ray player (wirelessly or via ethernet) allowing you easy, plug and play access to your favorite videos and media files."

So, I am now scouring the manual to see what I can find.
