I like the 2tb WD My Book Model: WDBFJK0020HBK-NESN EXT HDD, but don't want any of the apps that come with it. I want to delete their software on the ext HDD. I read some where that the factory apps can not be removed. Can anyone confirm this. I just want to make this a Plain Jane EXT HDD

Thanks

Format it like any other hard drive. I don't see why that wouldn't do it.

You'd lose whatever is on the drive; so copy that stuff (if any) somewhere else temporarily. And then move it back after the format.

I've never owned an external drive and have no idea what they put on them.

I would not delete them. They take very little space and you never know when they may come in handy. But if you really want to delete them, I would also say that a reformat should do it. Else a Clean command in command prompt.

That's what I was thinking Whs, but in one of the many reviews I read, someone wanted to do the same thing but could not get rid of the bloatware. Maybe he was going about it the wrong way. I had no problems reformatting my old WD 500gb HDD to rid of some junk I did not want.
