My bookmark folder, when opened, look like this:
All Bookmarks
....Bookmarks Toolbar
....Bookmarks Menu
....Unsorted Bookmarks

The problem is that the toolbar folder contains another All Bookmarks folder at the end:
All Bookmarks
....Bookmarks Toolbar (opened)
........<subfolders>
........All Bookmarks
....Bookmarks Menu
....Unsorted Bookmarks

When I open the that second All Bookmarks folder under the toolbar I get this:
All Bookmarks
....Bookmarks Toolbar (opened)
........<subfolders>
........All Bookmarks (opened)
............Bookmarks Toolbar (opened)
................<subfolders>
................All Bookmarks
............Bookmarks Menu
............Unsorted Bookmarks
........Bookmarks Menu
........Unsorted Bookmarks
....Bookmarks Menu
....Unsorted Bookmarks

I can keep drilling down. Each recursion cycle opens the lowest All Bookmarks sub-folder -- exposing another Toolbar that contains another All Bookmarks. On about the 4th recursion cycle Firefox freezes up. The All Bookmarks folder obviously doesn't belong in the toolbar. How can I get rid of it?

I deleted the folder and it worked. I had hesitated to do that at first because I thought the All Bookmarks folder might obey different rules from non keyword folders. I guess not.

Problem solved.
