Hello,
I have been using Ubuntu for a while on my HP Mini when XP got corrupted. I really like how Gnome has two taskbars, one on the top to launch programs and for shortcuts etc. and one on the bottom with the windows that are open. Is there any way for me to get this in Windows? I do not need it to look like Gnome's taskbars, I just want to have two taskbars.

here's a link to what Gnome looks like:

I think the Rocket Dock idea is a pretty good one. Also I wrote a command line program to set the work area. That way you can use the ordinary Maximize Button on application and Explorer windows without covering RocketDock. It's called Adjust Work Area. You can download from here:
Faves Downloads

The easiest way it to play around with the numbers after you have your second taskbar or dock set up. Then just make a .cmd file with the command and numbers hard coded, put a shortcut into the StartUp Folder or in the Registry Run key (see my RunIt app for putting the app in the Run key. It's available on the same page.)

All the apps on my site are free for you to use at your own risk. I only have English language Windows for testing so if you need Unicode all I can say is try them and see what happens. :)

you could probably use Coolbarz for this.

it offers the choice of up to four toolbars in the old Windows style (in stark contrast to the excessively stylized 'dock' programs you'll find) -- you might wish to enable only the 'top' bar. once you've done that, all you have to do is drag-drop the exes (or folders, or other files) of your choice into it, you can then rearrange and rename the links (or disable words altogether and just have the icons appear). The only down side is that they auto-hide, which may not be what you'd prefer.
