How can I have a split taskbar

Is it possible to have multiple groups of icons within the taskbar?
I have tried making shortcuts with toolbars but they lose all the pinned shortcut functionality (jump lists etc) and use different sized none centered icons (I usually use the vertical orientation of the taskbar)

I have attached a mock up of what I mean, 1 group of icons that start from left and another from right.
The idea would be for new open windows would add to the left group filling towards the middle/down (as is the usual case) unless placed manually within the right/bottom group (which would be stuck to the taskbar)

Bump... love the concept of this my task bar is a mess in that sense:

To clarify you mean to have inactive icons on one designated side and active on the other unless specified otherwise?

Yes, I'd like to 'pin' to the taskbar but not in the usual up/left location but on the bottom/right location next to the system tray. I basically want to replace the small & ugly system tray icons with the more functional taskbar icons (with jump lists & tasks) but to be kept separately from the active windows.

I don't know if there is something here that can do exactly what you want...
You might find something you like...
I would create a System Backup Image before playing with any of this, just so I can restore if anything goes wrong...
I try to keep my systems as "vanilla" as possible, and not do tweaks that might cause future problems.
