How can I make a movie on Windows movie maker for playing on a DVD?

I have files I have uploaded from my handycam they are in Mpeg. How can I convert them into PAL mpeg-2 so that I can burn onto disk so that they can be viwed on a DVD player please?

Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
I don't believe you need to change the file type to burn a dvd in windows movie maker :/

About all you need to do is open the video file in wmm and it should open
Then click on the blue file button and Burn/ DVD Burn.

Insert a compatible dvd-R or dvd+R or combination of the 2 when prompted too.

Thanks for your reply. I think I did this before in a previouse version of windows. It worked but everything was silent, why do you think this was please?

Hi,
As long as you play the video in wmm and it has sound I don't see why burning it after it would not have sound,
But you can also save as other format too if you do have issues mp3/ wav.....
Confirm the disks you're using ?

Usually Verbatim DVD - R when I burn it, do I need to convert it from wmm to PAL?

I don't think a wmvfile would play on a dvd player would it? Only on a PC which my parents don't have.

As far as I know dvd players are only restricted to types of disks they will read/ play not the contents on the disk.

Freemake Video Converter can burn most movies to DVD. Just drag the file into the program, click 'to DVD' and select PAL as the output format. IIRC, when installing Freemake, you have to choose 'custom' or similar to avoid installing any unwanted extras.
