Hello

I have three virtual OS (windows 2003)installed on my server (window 2008), I can ping it from within the network but I cannot reach it from outside the network. However, I can reach the host and any other physical pc from outside the network.

I also installed VMware 5.0 on my laptop running window 7. Windows XP is on the VW. it can ping the host but the host cannot ping it. I have set it to bridge but it is still not the host cannot still ping the OS on the VM.

Can anybody help!

Hi there
from OUTSIDE your router you have to know what the IP address that the Internet sees you as -- and in the case of most ISP's you will be allocated a DYNAMIC IP address.

So use something like no-ip (gives you a FREE IP address) which you can access from OUTSIDE the network

Then Port forward your router to access the machine(s) you want

Here's the site (FREE)

No-IP.com - Managed DNS - Free Dynamic DNS - Managed Email - 100% Uptime Guaranteed

(If you have a static IP address then you can ping the Host without needing the Dynamic DNS type of software -- no problem --but to ping the VM's you'll STILL need to port forward the commands to the appropriate IP addresses of the VM's).

Cheers
