Hi Everyone, Thanx for reading my problems :).

I have a weired bug in Internet Explorer 8.

Two days ago I tried to look some online video in a news website I'm used to watch for years.
The video applet is Java based. (not flash... flash I can see great.)
suddenly I can't watch any video on the website.
I've already tried to reset the browser, restore the IE8 settings, and restore my system to an earlier date, nothing helped. :(

Also, in FireFox, Google Chrome or any other browser, the same problem occures.

I wanted to try reinstalling IE8 but don't know how.

1) Does anyone know what could be the problem and what can I do to solve it without reinstalling IE8 or Windows 7?

2) What is the procedure of reinstalling IE8 on Windows 7? is it different from the other IE versions on other OS's?

Thank you for trying to help me!

sza.

IE 8 cannot be reinstalled, you must wait for IE9. You can however disable it. Go to search, type turn windows features on or off, then go to the appropriate screen and untick IE8. Remdmber, if you have no other browser you cannot surf until it is reactivated.

OK, so here is my situation...

First of all, thank you all for replying.

Second, I've reinstalled Java to the latest version and still it isn't working.
I thought about it and apperently uninstalling IE8 Won't help me because the problem occures also in Firefox and Google Chrome web browsers.

Do you have any other idea?

(maybe I can give you a link to the page so you will be able to see what teachnology is used to show the video clip? -although the website isn't in English... but maybe it's not using Java as I thought and you guys can check what isn't working well in my operating system...)

if someone can check the link for me, tell me and I'll send it to him in a private message...

Thank you all again for trying helping me so far!!!

Well, one thing I would try is look to see what patches were applied during the time it stopped working, and uninstall them.

I would agree with tw33k. There is probably some system file that is on the blink. Just note that sfc /scannow has a blank in front of the slash. That may, or may not fix it. Then it is on to repair install.

There's a couple things you can try:

1. Check to see if you somehow disabled Java
Open IE8 > Tools > Programs Tab > Manage Add Ons Button
Make sure "Show All Add Ons" is ticked
Find the section called "(Not verified) Sun Microsystems, Inc."
Highlight the Web Browser Applet Control and enable it on the bottom right if it isn't already.

2. Run System Restore to a point where Java worked.

3. Uninstall Java and do a complete registry cleaning of all Java remnants and then reinstall.
   Warning
Don't use this method unless you've backed up your registry beforehand.

Open REGEDIT (Start > Run > "regedit")
Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Expand SOFTWARE
Expand JAVASOFT
Now, delete any instances of your java version (i.e. 6.0_14, jav 6_14, etc)... Here's a list that you should find, there could be more:
Expand Java Plug-In, Delete folder 1.6.0_14 (Or your version)
Expand Java Runtime Environment, Delete folder 1.6.0_14
Expand Java Webstart, Delete folder 1.6.0_14
Delete Java Update folder

I guess in reality you could delete the entire Java folder, but this should do the trick.

Now download and install the latest Java.

First of all, thanx a lot for trying to help me!!!

second, tw33k, whs, I've tried to check the system files as you said, it didn't find any error.

notsograymatter, I've tried checking if Java was disabled and found that it was! I've changed it as you said but still it's not working.

I think I'll try tommorow to fix the installation as you said if I won't find any other solution.

btw, the webpage which I can't see is:

The "Play" tryangle is supposed to luanch the video clip.
