I have been getting killed by some virus i have removed twice now. As with some virus' it deletes my restore points in sys restore. So what i want to do is create a new restore point save a safe copy of it somewhere else like on a different drive so that if this happens again i can drop the file into wherever sys restore saves them and run it. Is this possible and if so how? Or is there another way to do this to thwart any virus' attempts to leave me w/o a restore point?

This is 5 years old but think it should do what you want.
How To Backup System Restore Points

If you keep getting the same virus from the same place, don't go there.
Also, some viruses that are removed by some AV program may not get all its locations and reactivate.
Try a couple different on-demand scanners like spybot search and destroy, superantispyware,
malwarebytes, just to mention a few. Many times one pill will not cure everyone.
Good luck.

I didn't get it from going to a particular site, trust me. Anyways, i'm not asking how to keep from getting virus', i'm asking how to save a safe copy of a restore point that i can retrieve is for ANY reason the point in sys restore gets lost or corrupt.

I thought I answered that in my link above. :D
Viruses and malware of any type don't just jump on your computer. You initiate it by many possible
ways. A site you visited (I trust you didn't go there), a file you downloaded, a program you ran,
an email you opened with an infected attachment, download any data from a flash drive or
external drive of any type that may have come from a friend who was infected.
I use AVG 2016 Free Edition and go to places where no man has gone before and do not get
contaminated. I get warnings to remove or continue but I remove, of course.
Also if the activating culprit is in the system files they will be in your restore points also if created
after getting infected. Having a system image or full backup prior the infection can be restored
and then use any of the many tools available to scan for infections.
Good luck.

I missed that. It looked like it wasn't part of the message with all the AD stuff. Anyways, i found it but it won't let me copy the file that i need. I fear taking ownership from all i've read about doing that here, but should I ?

If you followed instructions in link and still can't open System Volume Information folder do this:
Add "Take Ownership" to Explorer Right-Click Menu in Windows

(that is an active link above)

Then right click on system volume information and click Take Ownership and then open.
You will then see you system restore points listed by dates.

Image backups are a far more reliable method of restoring the OS to a known good state. The proposed idea may work under some conditions but cannot be considered a reliable option. It is unsupported and could fail in any number of ways. Personally I would be surprised if it worked at all.

Without having to get into a whole debate as to why i'm still looking at this rather than a image, i have a question. Please lets not get back into the image thing right now i have my reasons. I just have one question. I have full rights on my PC. I have gone over the rights thing and theres just nothing to change that i can see because everything is already set to full control and theres no other rights to give unless theres something else i'm missing. And thats what i'm asking because while i can get into the sys info folder, it will not let me copy anything to another location. I even read a tutorial on how to do this and it is according to that a legit and workable solution. But i followed all the procedures to gain total control and i still cannot copy those files. What might i be missing that still will not allow me to copy them eben tho i am allowed into the folder?

The answer is simple - you do not have full rights. I do not understand why you are so stubborn and do not use imaging.
